81: The Overthrowing (سُورَةُ التَّكۡوِيرِ)

![]() When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up;
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم إذا الشمس كورت
Izash shamsu kuwwirat
|

![]() When the stars fall, losing their lustre;
وإذا النجوم انكدرت
Wa izan nujoomun kadarat
|
3 |
![]() When the mountains vanish (like a mirage);
وإذا الجبال سيرت
Wa izal jibaalu suyyirat
|
4 |
![]() When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended;
وإذا العشار عطلت
Wa izal ‘ishaaru ‘uttilat
|
5 |
![]() When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations);
وإذا الوحوش حشرت
Wa izal wuhooshu hushirat
|
6 |
![]() When the oceans boil over with a swell;
وإذا البحار سجرت
Wa izal bihaaru sujjirat
|
7 |
![]() When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like);
وإذا النفوس زوجت
Wa izan nufoosu zuwwijat
|

![]() When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned –
وإذا الموءودة سئلت
Wa izal maw’oodatu su’ilat
|
9 |
![]() For what crime she was killed;
بأي ذنب قتلت
Bi ayyi zambin qutilat
|
10 |
![]() When the scrolls are laid open;
وإذا الصحف نشرت
Wa izas suhufu nushirat
|
11 |
![]() When the world on High is unveiled;
وإذا السماء كشطت
Wa izas samaaa’u kushitat
|
12 |
![]() When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat;
وإذا الجحيم سعرت
Wa izal jaheemu su’-‘irat
|
13 |
![]() And when the Garden is brought near;-
وإذا الجنة أزلفت
Wa izal jannatu uzlifat
|
14 |
![]() (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward.
علمت نفس ما أحضرت
‘Alimat nafsum maaa ahdarat
|
15 |
![]() So verily I call to witness the planets – that recede,
فلا أقسم بالخنس
Falaaa uqsimu bil khunnas
|
16 |
![]() Go straight, or hide;
الجوار الكنس
Al jawaaril kunnas
|
17 |
![]() And the Night as it dissipates;
والليل إذا عسعس
Wallaili izaa ‘as’as
|
18 |
![]() And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;-
والصبح إذا تنفس
Wassubhi izaa tanaffas
|
19 |
![]() Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger,
إنه لقول رسول كريم
Innahoo laqawlu rasoolin kareem
|
20 |
![]() Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne,
ذي قوة عند ذي العرش مكين
Zee quwwatin ‘inda zil ‘arshi makeen
|
21 |
![]() With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust.
مطاع ثم أمين
Mutaa’in samma ameen
|
22 |
![]() And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed;
وما صاحبكم بمجنون
Wa maa saahibukum bimajnoon
|
23 |
![]() And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon.
ولقد رآه بالأفق المبين
Wa laqad ra aahu bilufuqil mubeen
|
24 |
![]() Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen.
وما هو على الغيب بضنين
Wa maa huwa ‘alal ghaibi bidaneen
|
25 |
![]() Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed.
وما هو بقول شيطان رجيم
Wa maa huwa biqawli shaitaanir rajeem
|

![]() When whither go ye?
فأين تذهبون
Fa ayna tazhaboon
|
27 |
![]() Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds:
إن هو إلا ذكر للعالمين
In huwa illaa zikrul lil’aalameen
|
28 |
![]() (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight:
لمن شاء منكم أن يستقيم
Liman shaaa’a minkum ai yastaqeem
|
29 |
![]() But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds.
وما تشاءون إلا أن يشاء الله رب العالمين
Wa maa tashaaa’oona illaaa ai yashaaa ‘al laahu Rabbul ‘Aalameen
|
