66: The Prohibition (سُورَةُ التَّحۡرِيمِ)

 O Prophet! Why holdest thou to be forbidden that which Allah has made lawful to thee? Thou seekest to please thy consorts. But Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم يا أيها النبي لم تحرم ما أحل الله لك ۖ تبتغي مرضات أزواجك ۚ والله غفور رحيم
Yaaa ayyuhan nabiyyu lima tuharrimu maaa ahallal laahu laka tabtaghee mardaata azwaajik; wallaahu ghafoorur raheem

 Allah has already ordained for you, (O men), the dissolution of your oaths (in some cases): and Allah is your Protector, and He is Full of Knowledge and Wisdom.
قد فرض الله لكم تحلة أيمانكم ۚ والله مولاكم ۖ وهو العليم الحكيم
Qad faradal laahu lakum tahillata aymaanikum; wallaahu mawlaakum wa huwal’aleemul hakeem

 When the Prophet disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his consorts, and she then divulged it (to another), and Allah made it known to him, he confirmed part thereof and repudiated a part. Then when he told her thereof, she said, “Who told thee this? “He said, “He told me Who knows and is well-acquainted (with all things).”
وإذ أسر النبي إلى بعض أزواجه حديثا فلما نبأت به وأظهره الله عليه عرف بعضه وأعرض عن بعض ۖ فلما نبأها به قالت من أنبأك هذا ۖ قال نبأني العليم الخبير
Wa iz asarran nabiyyu ilaa ba’di azwaajihee hadeesan falammaa nabba at bihee wa azharahul laahu ‘alaihi ‘arrafa ba’dahoo wa a’rada ‘am ba’din falammaa nabba ahaa bihee qaalat man amba aka haaza qaala nabba aniyal ‘aleemul khabeer

 If ye two turn in repentance to Him, your hearts are indeed so inclined; But if ye back up each other against him, truly Allah is his Protector, and Gabriel, and (every) righteous one among those who believe,- and furthermore, the angels – will back (him) up.
إن تتوبا إلى الله فقد صغت قلوبكما ۖ وإن تظاهرا عليه فإن الله هو مولاه وجبريل وصالح المؤمنين ۖ والملائكة بعد ذلك ظهير
In tatoobaaa ilal laahi faqad saghat quloobukumaa wa in tazaaharaa ‘alihi fa innal laaha huwa mawlaahu wa jibreelu wa saalihul mu’mineen; walma laaa’ikatu ba’dazaalika zaheer

 It may be, if he divorced you (all), that Allah will give him in exchange consorts better than you,- who submit (their wills), who believe, who are devout, who turn to Allah in repentance, who worship (in humility), who travel (for Faith) and fast,- previously married or virgins.
عسى ربه إن طلقكن أن يبدله أزواجا خيرا منكن مسلمات مؤمنات قانتات تائبات عابدات سائحات ثيبات وأبكارا
‘Asaa rabbuhooo in tallaqakunna anyyubdilahooo azwaajan khairam mnkunna muslimaatim mu’minaatin qaanitaatin taaa’ibaatin ‘aabidaatin saaa’ihaatin saiyibaatinw wa abkaaraa

 O ye who believe! save yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is Men and Stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who flinch not (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allah, but do (precisely) what they are commanded.
يا أيها الذين آمنوا قوا أنفسكم وأهليكم نارا وقودها الناس والحجارة عليها ملائكة غلاظ شداد لا يعصون الله ما أمرهم ويفعلون ما يؤمرون
Yaaa ayyuhal lazeena samanoo qooo anfusakum wa ahleekum naaranw waqoodu han naasu wal hijaaratu ‘alaihaa malaaa’ikatun ghilaazun shidaadul laa ya’soonal laaha maa amarahum wa yaf’aloona maa yu’maroon

 (They will say), “O ye Unbelievers! Make no excuses this Day! Ye are being but requited for all that ye did!”
يا أيها الذين كفروا لا تعتذروا اليوم ۖ إنما تجزون ما كنتم تعملون
Yaaa ayyuhal lazeena kafaroo la ta’tazinul yawma innamaa tujzawna maa kuntum ta’maloon

 O ye who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance: In the hope that your Lord will remove from you your ills and admit you to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow,- the Day that Allah will not permit to be humiliated the Prophet and those who believe with him. Their Light will run forward before them and by their right hands, while they say, “Our Lord! Perfect our Light for us, and grant us Forgiveness: for Thou hast power over all things.”
يا أيها الذين آمنوا توبوا إلى الله توبة نصوحا عسى ربكم أن يكفر عنكم سيئاتكم ويدخلكم جنات تجري من تحتها الأنهار يوم لا يخزي الله النبي والذين آمنوا معه ۖ نورهم يسعى بين أيديهم وبأيمانهم يقولون ربنا أتمم لنا نورنا واغفر لنا ۖ إنك على كل شيء قدير
Yaaa ayyuhal lazeena aammano toobooo ilal laahi tawbatan nasoohan ‘asaa rabbukum any-yukaffira ‘ankum sayyi aatikum wa yudkhilakum jannaatin tajree min tahtihal anhaaru yawma laa yukhzil laahun nabiyya wallazeena aamanoo ma’ahoo nooruhum yas’aa baina aydeehim wa bi aymaanihim yaqooloona rabbanaaa atmim lanaa nooranaa waghfir lana innaka ‘alaa kulli shai’in qadeer

 O Prophet! Strive hard against the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell,- an evil refuge (indeed).
يا أيها النبي جاهد الكفار والمنافقين واغلظ عليهم ۚ ومأواهم جهنم ۖ وبئس المصير
yaaa ayyuuhan nabiyyu jaahidil kuffaara walmunaa-fiqeena waghluz ‘alaihim; wa maawaahum jahannamu wa bi’sal maseer

 Allah sets forth, for an example to the Unbelievers, the wife of Noah and the wife of Lut: they were (respectively) under two of our righteous servants, but they were false to their (husbands), and they profited nothing before Allah on their account, but were told: “Enter ye the Fire along with (others) that enter!”
ضرب الله مثلا للذين كفروا امرأت نوح وامرأت لوط ۖ كانتا تحت عبدين من عبادنا صالحين فخانتاهما فلم يغنيا عنهما من الله شيئا وقيل ادخلا النار مع الداخلين
Darabal laahu masalal lillazeena kafarum ra ata Noobinw wamra ata Loot, kaanataa tahta ‘abdaini min ‘ibaadinaa saalihaini fakhaanataahumaa falam yughniyaa ‘anhumaa minal laahi shai anw-wa qeelad khulan naara ma’ad Daakhileen

 And Allah sets forth, as an example to those who believe the wife of Pharaoh: Behold she said: “O my Lord! Build for me, in nearness to Thee, a mansion in the Garden, and save me from Pharaoh and his doings, and save me from those that do wrong”;
وضرب الله مثلا للذين آمنوا امرأت فرعون إذ قالت رب ابن لي عندك بيتا في الجنة ونجني من فرعون وعمله ونجني من القوم الظالمين
Wa darabal laahu masa lal-lillazeena aamanumra ata Fir’awn; iz qaalat rabbibni lee ‘indaka baitan fil jannati wa najjinee min Fir’awna wa ‘amalihii wa najjinee minal qawmiz zaalimeen

 And Mary the daughter of ‘Imran, who guarded her chastity; and We breathed into (her body) of Our spirit; and she testified to the truth of the words of her Lord and of His Revelations, and was one of the devout (servants).
ومريم ابنت عمران التي أحصنت فرجها فنفخنا فيه من روحنا وصدقت بكلمات ربها وكتبه وكانت من القانتين
Wa Maryamab nata ‘Imraanal lateee ahsanat farjahaa fanafakhnaa feehi mir roobinaa wa saddaqat bikali maati Rabbihaa wa Kutubihee wakaanat minal qaaniteen
