75: The Resurrection (سُورَةُ القِيَامَةِ)

1	I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم لا أقسم بيوم القيامة Laaa uqsimu bi yawmil qiyaamah
2	And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). ولا أقسم بالنفس اللوامة Wa laaa uqsimu bin nafsil lawwaamah
3	Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? أيحسب الإنسان ألن نجمع عظامه Ayahsabul insaanu al lan najm’a ‘izaamah
4	Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. بلى قادرين على أن نسوي بنانه Balaa qaadireena ‘alaaa an nusawwiya banaanah
5	But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. بل يريد الإنسان ليفجر أمامه Bal yureedul insaanu liyafjura amaamah
6	He questions: “When is the Day of Resurrection?” يسأل أيان يوم القيامة Yas’alu ayyyaana yawmul qiyaamah
7	At length, when the sight is dazed, فإذا برق البصر Fa izaa bariqal basar
8	And the moon is buried in darkness. وخسف القمر We khasafal qamar
9	And the sun and moon are joined together,- وجمع الشمس والقمر Wa jumi’ash shamusu wal qamar
10	That Day will Man say: “Where is the refuge?” يقول الإنسان يومئذ أين المفر Yaqoolul insaanu yaw ma ‘izin aynal mafarr
11	By no means! No place of safety! كلا لا وزر Kallaa laa wazar
12	Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. إلى ربك يومئذ المستقر Ilaa rabbika yawma ‘izinil mustaqarr
13	That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. ينبأ الإنسان يومئذ بما قدم وأخر Yunabba ‘ul insaanu yawma ‘izim bimaa qaddama wa akhkhar
14	Nay, man will be evidence against himself, بل الإنسان على نفسه بصيرة Balil insaanu ‘alaa nafsihee baseerah
15	Even though he were to put up his excuses. ولو ألقى معاذيره Wa law alqaa ma’aazeerah
16	Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur’an) to make haste therewith. لا تحرك به لسانك لتعجل به Laa tuharrik bihee lisaa naka lita’jala bih
17	It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: إن علينا جمعه وقرآنه Inna ‘alainaa jam’ahoo wa qur aanah
18	But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): فإذا قرأناه فاتبع قرآنه Fa izaa qaraanaahu fattabi’ qur aanah
19	Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): ثم إن علينا بيانه Summa inna ‘alainaa bayaanah
20	Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, كلا بل تحبون العاجلة Kallaa bal tuhibboonal ‘aajilah
21	And leave alone the Hereafter. وتذرون الآخرة Wa tazaroonal Aakhirah
22	Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- وجوه يومئذ ناضرة Wujoohuny yawma ‘izin naadirah
23	Looking towards their Lord; إلى ربها ناظرة Ilaa rabbihaa naazirah
24	And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, ووجوه يومئذ باسرة Wa wujoohuny yawma ‘izim baasirah
25	In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; تظن أن يفعل بها فاقرة Tazunnu any yuf’ala bihaa faaqirah
26	Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), كلا إذا بلغت التراقي Kallaaa izaa balaghatit taraaqee
27	And there will be a cry, “Who is a magician (to restore him)?” وقيل من ۜ راق Wa qeela man raaq
28	And he will conclude that it was (the Time) of Parting; وظن أنه الفراق Wa zanna annahul firaaq
29	And one leg will be joined with another: والتفت الساق بالساق Waltaffatis saaqu bissaaq
30	That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! إلى ربك يومئذ المساق Ilaa rabbika yawma’izinil masaaq
31	So he gave nothing in charity, nor did he pray!- فلا صدق ولا صلى Falaa saddaqa wa laa sallaa
32	But on the contrary, he rejected Truth and turned away! ولكن كذب وتولى Wa laakin kazzaba wa tawalla
33	Then did he stalk to his family in full conceit! ثم ذهب إلى أهله يتمطى Summa zahaba ilaaa ahlihee yatamatta
34	Woe to thee, (O men!), yea, woe! أولى لك فأولى Awlaa laka fa awlaa
35	Again, Woe to thee, (O men!), yea, woe! ثم أولى لك فأولى Summa awlaa laka fa awla
36	Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled, (without purpose)? أيحسب الإنسان أن يترك سدى Ayahsabul insaanu anyytraka sudaa
37	Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in lowly form)? ألم يك نطفة من مني يمنى Alam yaku nutfatam mim maniyyiny yumnaa
38	Then did he become a leech-like clot; then did (Allah) make and fashion (him) in due proportion. ثم كان علقة فخلق فسوى Summa kaana ‘alaqata fakhalaq fasawwaa
39	And of him He made two sexes, male and female. فجعل منه الزوجين الذكر والأنثى Faja’ala minhuz zawjayniz zakara wal unsaa
40	Has not He, (the same), the power to give life to the dead? أليس ذلك بقادر على أن يحيي الموتى Alaisa zaalika biqaadirin ‘alaaa any yuhyiyal mawtaa
