93: The Morning Hours (سُورَةُ الضُّحَىٰ)

![]() By the Glorious Morning Light,
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم والضحى
Wad duhaa
|
2 |
![]() And by the Night when it is still,-
والليل إذا سجى
Wal laili iza sajaa
|
3 |
![]() Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased.
ما ودعك ربك وما قلى
Ma wad da’aka rabbuka wa ma qalaa
|
4 |
![]() And verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present.
وللآخرة خير لك من الأولى
Walal-aakhiratu khairul laka minal-oola
|
5 |
![]() And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased.
ولسوف يعطيك ربك فترضى
Wa la sawfa y’uteeka rabbuka fatarda
|

![]() Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care)?
ألم يجدك يتيما فآوى
Alam ya jidka yateeman fa aawaa
|
7 |
![]() And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance.
ووجدك ضالا فهدى
Wa wa jadaka daal lan fahada
|
8 |
![]() And He found thee in need, and made thee independent.
ووجدك عائلا فأغنى
Wa wa jadaka ‘aa-ilan fa aghnaa
|
9 |
![]() Therefore, treat not the orphan with harshness,
فأما اليتيم فلا تقهر
Fa am mal yateema fala taqhar
|
10 |
![]() Nor repulse the petitioner (unheard);
وأما السائل فلا تنهر
Wa am mas saa-ila fala tanhar
|
11 |
![]() But the bounty of the Lord – rehearse and proclaim!
وأما بنعمة ربك فحدث
Wa amma bi ni’mati rabbika fahad dith
|
